Hurmuri in english

”Hurmuri” (”Charmer”) is a short theater festival arranged in Outokumpu on March 28th - 30th 2008. The festival focuses especially on concise expression. Performances of theatre, dance, or of any other field of performing arts, are selected to the official program of the festival. The amount of selected performances is 40-100. The length of performances is from one minute to 20 minutes.

The theme of the Hurmuri- festival in year 2008 is ”Kohtaus” that can have meanings like 'meeting, rendezvous, attack'. With the theme we want to seek different ways to meet a human being. Our aim is to find performances that are current and provoke emotions that are humane and powerful.

The festival is arranged now for the fourth time. The place where it's held at is the unique mine surroundings in Outokumpu. Hurmuri is the only theater festival in Northern Karelia, and our aim is to make a festival that is unique, independent and seeks different possibilities of performing arts.
